Draw evidence from literary or informational texts to support analysis, reflection, and research.

Skill: Answering multi-part questions and citing evidence.

Work Requirements:
  • Write answers on properly labeled piece of notebook paper using¬†proper sentence construction including capitalization, spelling, and grammar.
  • Answers need to be correct and based on the reading.
  • Restate the Question: RTQ
  • Include a Quote for Evidence
  • Include a Citation. Write the page number where the quote or evidence was found. Use parentheses before punctuation (7).
Witch of Blackbird Pond, Chapter 1

Sample Question:
2. What were Kit's first impressions of America? What does this reveal about her background character?
Sample answer:
Kit's first impression of America included disappointment. "She didn't want to admit how disappointing she found this first glimpse of America (7)." Her impression revealed she was from someplace very different. She was used to the "turquoise bay of Barbados (7)."
This is a two part question, so evidence needs to be given for each part. Because you restate the question in the answer (RTQ), a reader should be able to infer the question based upon the answer. Notice, the answer cites the page number for each quote by placing a page number in parentheses before the end punctuation.

Each written response is worth 5 points. 1 point for each item listed in the Work Requirements.
